Tips for better scans

Photograph documents on a flat, contrasting surface with even light and no shadows. Frame straight from above. If your phone has a "document scan" mode, use it — it de-skews and increases contrast before you convert. Compress large photos beforehand if you need a small PDF: image quality is preserved as-is here, so a 5 MB photo stays 5 MB inside the PDF.
